I got married approximately 3 years ago after being seeing my now wife for 2 years. She was originally from Dudley, but moved away when she was 16 to Bromsgrove where she worked for an International Chemical company. Funnil enough she still works for them and has done now for 14 years.
We got married back in 2007 official in Bangkok, but then had the ceremony in Koh Samui and the honeymoon in Krabi. We arrived first of all in Bangkok and had a couple of days taking in the sites including the Grand Palace, the floating market and the reclining Buddha. The city was utterly amazing and such a contrast to the Western World. After those couple of days my parents joined us along with a few of their friends and we went on a number of trips and out for meals in the amazig City.
After 5 days in Bangkok both my wife and I flew to Koh Samui, a small Island approximatley a one hour flight from Bangkok. The Island was very picturesque with the most quaint little airport you could ever imagine. On arrival we went straight to our hotel to arrange the finer details of the wedding ceremony, including the flowers, the cake, the food and the fireworks. After a day of relaxation, drinking and sun bathing the rest of the guest arrived. There was approximately 20 guests at the wedding including both family and friends and the day was fantastic with a lot of food, cocktails and funny stories. The fire works at the end of the night were a sight to behold. We thought that when we ordered them that they would be ok, but they were out of this world akin to a organised firework display in the UK. In addition to the fireworks we also let lanterns off over the sea that disappeared into the distance.
The day after the wedding ceremony we flew off to Krabi on the South Coast of Thailand for our luxurious Honeymoon. Might I add this place was amazing, an absolute luxury paradise. We arrived at the airport and were picked up in a boat and taken to a small port where we picked up a luxury speed boat that transported us to our hotel which was at the foot of Thailand on the coast and cut off from the mainland by limestone cliffs. The place was paradise with amazing cave restuarnts and tree top bars, whilst the accomodation comprised of your very own two story bungalow. It was a private resort with only guests allowed to walk the 10 acre resort, along with the wild monkeys of course.
The whole experince descibed was a far cry from my day job which is a Development Executive at a company that sells water coolers , drinking fountains and other products associated with the water cooler industry. Having said that I do love my job which can often be hard work, but it is the hard work that helps you appreciate the breaks that you have.
