The Federation for American Immigration Reform Involvement
The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) has been involved in many different activities in an attempt to change the immigration policies of the country. Their stated goals are to improve border security, stop illegal immigration, and promote healthy levels of legal immigration. They pursue their agenda through various political and legal means, and they have continued to express their ideals through various media channels as well.
Not everyone agrees with their policies, of course. The issue of illegal immigration is not one that is going to be settled easily, and sometimes it seems like everyone in the country has a different idea how to resolve the associated problems. Some of those ideas may not be exactly practical, but most people that hold strong opinions on the subject will defend those ideas in almost any situation.
Some of those problems, according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, include a detrimental impact on education and employment, as well as health care, national security, and an increased crime rate. Studies continue, however, to try and determine exactly what kind of impact the current level of immigration really has. Of course, there are even more problems when people start to propose the different ways that these problems could be addressed.
The Federation for American Immigration Reform has stated that they believe there is a way to end illegal immigration that is consistent with our current democratic ideals and laws. Other organizations, though, have accused FAIR of practicing discriminatory policies and prejudicial actions. As the debate over illegal immigration continues, these kinds of heated debates are likely to continue, and organizations like FAIR will continue to play a major part.
