A Walk in the Park and discovering a Drinking Fountain
January 22nd, 2010
Ever since I was a small child I have loved the local park in Sutton Coldfield, it is the largest Urban Park in Europe and it so scenic. My parents used to take me on my bike when I was younger as we used to live less than a mile away. I remember my dad used to have a bike with a seat on the back and I used to be scared stiff that I or it would fall off the back on the bike. Looking back I think that they would almost certainly be banned by health and safety in todays day and age.
As I got a little bit older and learnt to ride my own bike a number of my brothers and our friends used to cycle in and go on the Monkey Run. This was a bike trail all through the trees and bushes that we named and it was fantastic. It was like our own little adventure and we even used to have races. We used to find all sorts of things with our little dens in the bushes and one time we even found an old drinking fountain , no doubt an individual had been fly tipping. recently they have introduced a legislation which prevents the normal disposal of electrical items ensuring that they disposed of in the correct manner. This is something that I feel is essential for the environment in the long term. Hopefully all of this legislation will prevent or delay the effects of global warming and climate change and this will certainly be to the benefit of mankind.
