It may be running water but it’s not like a drinking fountain

January 28th, 2010

Spent the weekend on a farm in Wales, it belongs to some good friends of mine who have a small holding; it is situated just outside of Aberystwyth. They were both in the medical profession but packed it all up just over 12 months ago to buy this place and they are quite self sufficient. They grow most of there own vegetables make there own cheese and butter and sell any surplus to local shops and visitors They have just started making there own wine and cider and hope to be able to sell that one day. I didn’t think they would be able to adapt to this quite hard way of life but they seem to really enjoy every minute of it, and they both look really well and years younger. Over the weekend I have helped out milking the goat and general mucking out of the smaller animals. I did manage to get on a couple of walks. The views and walks are amazing, there is one walk were you follow the path of  a river, the water is crystal clear but I don’t know if I would like to drink the water from it, I prefer to drink from a filtered drinking fountain, but it seems clear enough to drink. I suppose over the years the water is not as pure as it once was. Another walk led me right to the top of hill overlooking the town; the scenery was stunning, even the clouds were high which allowed you to see for miles
