The New Golden Era for Custom Mens Suits
January 26th, 2010
With the return of the well dressed American Gentleman we may be seeing the new golden era for custom mens suits. Its a more than welcome return to the dapper suit that made icons of the legendary screen acotrs of the 50′s and 60′s. From Cary Grant, to Clark Gable the cusotm made suit was a signature look that created a story book lifestyle that many men of the time tried to emulate and many women simply loved. During the tech boom of the late nineties we saw the emrgence of “Buisness Casual” which almost spelled the end of the custom made suit or even the suit all together. Many people opted instead to wear khakis and polo shirts. At the more edgy tech firms we wwere seeing flip flops and shorts even!
A funny thing happened though. As people wanted to go causal to simplify things, they still wanted to feel confidentand we started seeing a rise in premium casual clothing. Jeans were costing $300, T shirts, thats right t-shirts, upwards of $200 One thing couldnt be escaped… people wanted to dress up. Soon trendy slim cut suits started making their return and people were wearing suits because they wanted to rather than because they ahd to. That was the signal of the return to classic sartorial dressing. Now even as the economy has taken a huge dip more and more cusotm tailors are reporting that their sales are increasing. its remarkabel but custom garments are growing in reputation once again.
